Hello Muslims: These are The 5 Questions Most Couldn’t Answer

You have questions about suffering, about hell, about women’s rights, about science, about violence.

And here’s what’s terrifying you: You don’t know the answers. Your parents never taught you. Your imam never addressed these issues. Your Islamic school gave you memorization but not understanding. So now you’re sitting here, wondering who to ask.

But here’s what you need to understand: Every single question that’s being used to lead Muslims away from Islam has been answered—thoroughly, logically, and beautifully—by Islamic scholars for over 1,400 years. The problem isn’t that Islam doesn’t have answers. The problem is that nobody taught you those answers.

Let me give you the five questions, and the responses that could have save your time.

Question 1: “If Allah is merciful, why does He send people to Hell forever?”

This is the question that breaks people. They can’t reconcile infinite mercy with infinite punishment. And when they ask, Muslims usually respond with “don’t question Allah” or “we can’t understand His wisdom”—which is the worst possible answer because it sounds like we’re avoiding the question.

Here’s the actual Islamic response: Allah, Glorified and Exalted be He, is infinitely merciful, but He is also infinitely just. And justice requires that evil be punished proportionate to its severity. When someone rejects their Creator, lives a life of oppression and corruption, and dies in that state without repentance, eternal punishment is the just consequence.

But here’s what critics miss: No one goes to Hell except through their own choice. Allah, Glorified and Exalted be He, sent prophets, revealed books, gave countless opportunities for repentance, and even after death provides a final chance to believe. Those who end up in Hell actively chose to reject truth despite clear evidence.

The Quran explains this clearly:

“And We shall set up balances of justice on the Day of Judgment, so no soul will be dealt with unjustly in the least. And if there be the weight of a mustard seed, We will bring it. And Sufficient are We as Reckoners.” (Quran 21:47)

Perfect justice means every atom of good is rewarded and every atom of evil is addressed. If someone spent 70 years rejecting Allah, Glorified and Exalted be He, harming His creation, spreading corruption, and died in that state—how would a few years of punishment be just? The magnitude of the crime (rejecting the Infinite Creator) requires proportionate consequences.

Moreover, Islamic scholars explain that Hell has levels. Not everyone receives the same punishment. Those who never heard the message properly will be tested differently. Those who did good but lacked belief have a different fate than those who actively spread evil. Allah’s mercy and justice work in perfect harmony.

And here’s the key point nobody mentions: Allah’s mercy preceded His wrath. The Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, taught us that Allah’s mercy encompasses all things, that His mercy overcomes His anger, and that He will admit people to Paradise through His mercy alone. Hell exists, but so few will enter it compared to the vast oceans of mercy available to those who seek it.

Question 2: “Why does Islam allow men to marry multiple wives but not women to marry multiple husbands?”

This question about polygamy makes people feel Islam is unfair to women. They see it as sexism, as men having privileges women don’t have. And most Muslims respond by getting defensive instead of explaining the wisdom.

Here’s the nuanced Islamic answer: Polygamy (specifically polygyny) is permitted in Islam under strict conditions, not commanded or even recommended. It’s a solution to specific social problems, not a default state. And the permission comes with conditions so difficult that most men cannot fulfill them.

“But if you fear that you will not be just, then [marry only] one.” (Quran 4:3)

The Quran itself discourages polygamy for those who cannot maintain absolute justice between wives. And in another verse, Allah, Glorified and Exalted be He, says:

“You will never be able to be just between your wives, even if you should strive [to do so].” (Quran 4:129)

Why is it permitted for men but not women? Because of biological and social realities. A woman can only be pregnant by one man at a time, and children need to know their lineage. If a woman had multiple husbands, paternity becomes uncertain, inheritance becomes complicated, and family structure collapses. A man, however, can father children with multiple women without confusion about lineage.

But here’s what critics never mention: Islam gave women rights 1,400 years ago that Western women only achieved in the last century. The right to own property. The right to divorce. The right to keep their own money. The right to education. The right to refuse marriage. The right to inheritance. The right to consent in marriage.

In a society where women were buried alive as infants, Islam declared them equal in spiritual worth and gave them legal protections no other system provided at the time. Polygamy, when practiced properly with justice and consent, provided security for widows and orphans in societies without social safety nets.

Today, most Muslim men are monogamous because they cannot meet the requirements of justice that Islam demands for polygamy. The permission exists as a solution, not as an endorsement of inequality.

Question 3: “How can Islam be true when science contradicts the Quran?”

This question makes young Muslims uncomfortable because they’re taught in school that science proves religion wrong. They hear about evolution, the age of the universe, embryology, and they think Islam is incompatible with modern knowledge.

Here’s the truth: There is no contradiction between established science and the Quran. What exists is contradiction between materialistic interpretations of science and certain human interpretations of Islamic texts.

Assuming modern science is complete and final. Science evolves. What was considered fact 100 years ago is now outdated. The Quran described the expansion of the universe, the Big Bang, embryological development, the water cycle, the function of mountains, and the existence of pairs in all creation—concepts that modern science only recently confirmed.

Moreover, the Quran is not a science textbook. It’s a book of guidance. When it mentions natural phenomena, it does so to point humans toward reflection on their Creator, not to provide detailed scientific explanations.

The supposed conflict between Islam and science is a modern myth perpetuated by both religious extremists who reject science and atheist materialists who reject God. True Islam embraces knowledge from all sources, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “Seek knowledge even if you have to go to China.”

Thousands of Muslim scientists throughout history—the founders of algebra, optics, medicine, astronomy, and chemistry—saw no contradiction between their faith and their research. The conflict is manufactured.

Question 4: “Why is there so much violence in Islamic history and the Quran?”

This question haunts Muslims because they see verses about fighting and they see terrorism committed in Islam’s name, and they wonder if there’s something inherently violent in the religion.

Here’s the comprehensive Islamic response: The Quran contains verses about warfare because Muslims were being persecuted, tortured, and killed for 13 years in Makkah. When they migrated to Madinah, their enemies pursued them to annihilate them completely. In that context, Allah, Glorified and Exalted be He, gave permission to defend themselves.

Every single verse about fighting in the Quran has historical context. They were revealed for specific situations where Muslims were under attack or where treaties were violated. The Quran never commands unprovoked aggression. In fact, it explicitly states:

“Fight in the way of Allah those who fight you, but do not transgress. Indeed, Allah does not like transgressors.” (Quran 2:190)

And when enemies incline toward peace:

“And if they incline to peace, then incline to it [also] and rely upon Allah.” (Quran 8:61)

Islamic rules of war, established 1,400 years ago, prohibited killing non-combatants, women, children, elderly, religious figures, destroying crops, poisoning water, and mutilating bodies. Show me another civilization from the 7th century with such ethical warfare guidelines.

As for Islamic history, every civilization has blood in its past. But the Islamic golden age saw unprecedented religious tolerance, scientific advancement, and multicultural coexistence. Muslim Spain, the Ottoman Empire, and Mughal India allowed Jews, Christians, and other faiths to practice freely at times when Europe was burning heretics and forcing conversions.

Violence exists in human history across all religions and ideologies. Islam provides ethics to minimize and regulate it when necessary. The problem is not the religion—it’s human failure to follow it properly.

Question 5: “If Islam is the truth, why are Muslim-majority countries so backward?”

This question crushes Muslims who see the success of Western nations and the struggles of Muslim countries and conclude Islam must be the problem.

Here’s the reality check: The backwardness of Muslim-majority countries is not because of Islam—it’s because of the abandonment of Islam. Let me explain.

During the Islamic Golden Age (8th-13th centuries), when Muslims were truly following Islamic principles of knowledge, justice, innovation, and ethics, the Muslim world led in science, medicine, mathematics, philosophy, architecture, and governance. While Europe was in the Dark Ages, Muslim cities had universities, hospitals, libraries, running water, and sewage systems.

What happened? Muslims stopped following the actual teachings of Islam. They closed the door of ijtihad (independent reasoning). They became intellectually stagnant. They confused culture with religion. They became politically corrupt. They abandoned the Quranic command to seek knowledge and instead embraced blind imitation.

Meanwhile, the West adopted many principles from Islamic civilization—rule of law, scientific method, university systems, hospitals—and they flourished. Not because they abandoned religion, but because they implemented justice, education, accountability, and innovation.

Today’s Muslim-majority countries suffer from corruption, tribalism, dictatorship, ignorance, and cultural practices that directly contradict Islamic teachings.

The Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, established a state in Madinah that became the model of justice, where Jews, Christians, and Muslims lived under one constitution with equal rights. Where women were educated and participated in society. Where knowledge was prized above wealth. Where leaders were accountable to the people.

If Muslims today actually implemented true Islamic principles—justice, education, consultation, accountability, care for the poor, honoring contracts, encouraging innovation, prohibiting corruption—their countries would transform rapidly.

The failure is not in Islam. The failure is in Muslims who carry Islam’s name but abandoned its essence.

The Real Problem: Our Educational Failure

We taught to memorize Arabic without understanding it. We taught the rituals without wisdom.

When some muslims asked difficult questions, we shut them down.

The answers exist. Every single question has been addressed by scholars far more knowledgeable than the YouTube atheists and self declared “ex-Muslims” who are leading people astray.

What You Need to Do Right Now

The sun is about to rise. If you’re struggling with these questions or know someone who is, here’s your action plan:

Seek knowledge from qualified scholars, not from random social media accounts. Read books by Islamic scholars who engage with modernity. Study comparative religion to understand why Islam’s answers are superior.

Understand that doubt is not disbelief. Having questions doesn’t make you a bad Muslim. It makes you human. The Prophet’s companions asked questions. Seeking answers with the sole intention of getting closer to Islam, strengthens your faith, it doesn’t weaken it.

Don’t isolate yourself. Find Muslim communities that encourage intellectual discussion, that welcome questions, that provide mentorship. Isolation makes doubt grow into disbelief.

Pray for guidance. Make sincere dua: “O Allah, guide me.” Allah, Glorified and Exalted be He, responds to sincere seekers.

Study the Quran with understanding, not just recitation. Read tafsir. Understand context. See the beauty, coherence, and wisdom that you missed when you were just memorizing.

The questions that are breaking people’s faith have answers. Powerful, logical, beautiful answers that satisfy the mind and the heart. But you have to seek them actively. Islam is not faith despite reason—it’s faith that engages reason fully.

Your iman, with the right knowledge, can become unshakeable.
