why Muslims don’t pray

There are millions of Muslims who know—intellectually—that prayer is obligatory, that it’s the second pillar of Islam, that abandoning it has severe consequences. Yet they don’t pray. Not consistently. Sometimes not at all. Is it negligence? Laziness? Arrogance? Or something darker—a spiritual death that’s happened so gradually they didn’t notice until their hearts became completely detached from Allah? According to Islamic scholars, abandoning prayer is not a “minor sin you can make up later.” It’s a major issue that some scholars say removes you from Islam entirely.
